Creating your account
Sign in to Verentis for the first time, name your account and first workspace, and start working.
Your first visit to Verentis is short. You sign in, tell Verentis your name, name your account, and Verentis sets up your account and its first workspace. You then land straight in that workspace, ready to install apps.
If you joined through an invitation, you only enter your name. You join the account or workspace you were invited to, and Verentis does not create a separate account for you.
What is an identity provider?
An identity provider is the sign-in system that confirms who you are. Verentis uses one for sign-in. Learn more in OAuth and OIDC explained.
Before you start
You need one of these:
- Your organisation's Verentis web address. This opens the Account app, at an address like your organisation's account domain.
- An invitation link from someone in your organisation.
The Account app is the place where you manage your account, people, and workspaces.
First sign-in walkthrough
Open Verentis
Open your organisation's Verentis web address, or open the invitation link you received.
This takes you to Verentis in your browser.
Sign in with your provider
Select the sign-in option and complete the steps shown by your identity provider.
By default, Verentis uses Microsoft Entra External ID. This is a Microsoft sign-in service. Some workspaces connect their own provider.
You do not need to configure the provider during onboarding. You only sign in.
Enter your name
The first time you sign in, Verentis welcomes you and asks for your name.
Enter the name you would like to be called in Verentis. Your name must be between 3 and 64 characters.
Select Next.
You can change your name later
You can update your name later in account settings.
Joining through an invitation?
If you opened an invitation link, this is the only step. Select Finish. You join the account or workspace you were invited to.
Set up your account
Next, Verentis asks about your account. Your account holds your people, workspaces, and settings.
- Who is this account for? Choose A team for a company, team, or organisation, or Just me for personal use.
- Account name. Enter the name of your team or organisation, such as "Acme Inc". It must be between 3 and 64 characters.
Verentis also uses your browser's time zone and language as the account defaults.
Name your first workspace (optional)
Verentis creates your first workspace with the same name as your account.
To give it a different name, open Advanced and enter a Workspace name. The workspace name follows the account name until you change it. If you clear it, it follows the account name again.
Create your account
Select Create account. By selecting it, you agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy shown on the screen. The Terms of Service and Privacy Policy links open in a new tab.
Select Back if you want to change your name first. Verentis keeps what you have entered while you move between the steps, and for up to 30 minutes if you reload the page.
We get things ready
Verentis shows a short "Getting things ready" screen while it sets up your profile, your account, and your first workspace.
You might be asked to sign in again. Setup can take up to a minute.
You land in your workspace
When setup is complete, Verentis opens your new workspace. From here you can install apps from the marketplace, upload files, and invite people.
To manage your account, people, and other workspaces, go back to the Account app from your workspace.
If your workspace is still being prepared after a few minutes, Verentis opens your account Dashboard instead. You can open the workspace from there.
